#3 Brewhouse Sneak Peak

New location, new brewhouse! Come with us as we walk through the new brewhouse space!

We are excited to announce a list of major changes to how we will make beer and other beverages at Kirkland. These changes include:

  • Size

  • Heating Method

  • Ingredient Processing

  • Packaging Options

Size

At our current Main Street location, we work with a 3BBL brewhouse that can produce around 6 kegs at a time. At Kirkland, we are jumping to a 14BBL system! In the grand scheme of things, while this is a giant step forward for Crazy Gnome, we will still be considered a smaller microbrewery. We will still have the flexibility to brew the variety of styles you have come to expect from our taproom, but with the added bonus of being able to put more of those beers out in the marketplace!

Heating Method

We are going steampunk! Well... drop the punk and add "jacketed". Our new system will utilize a steam boiler that pushes steam through a jacket through both the bottom and the walls of our boiler. Steam systems in brewing are like gas burners in a kitchen: they offer better temp control for precise brewing processes. It's subtle, but you'll be able to find that with this new method we will be able to more precisely nail each different style of beer. Environmentally, steam systems heat more efficiently, allowing us to make the most of our resources and continue to be good stewards of the planet.

Ingredient Processing

With extra space we will finally be able to mill our own grain and buy it in greater quantities! Taking these processes in house will allow us to keep our prices competitive in a world of increasing raw ingredient costs. Having our own mill will also allow us to experiment with different settings, pushing our efficiency as high as possible. Higher efficiency means less grain used per batch, lowering our carbon footprint!

Packaging Options

Coming Soon: Crazy Gnome Cans! Since we opened our doors, we have been looking for a way to get our beer in cans for everyone to enjoy wherever you go. With our limited brewhouse capacity and space, this just wasn't something we were able to make happen. However, we plan to hit the ground running with canned products that will help you grab and go!
